2024-2025 Black mental wellness Mentors

When I was chosen to be a Black Mental Wellness mentee in 2022, I was elated because I knew that I would be led and cared for during my education by a stellar group of mental health professionals. My relationship with my mentor has proved to be invaluable. Therefore, when provided the opportunity to become a mentor of two mentees I was overjoyed. I am honored to be a mentor with Black Mental Wellness and look forward to growing in my profession with their camaraderie.
—Yovanna L. Madhere, MSW

"My journey of being poured into by Black Mental Wellness started with myself as a mentee in their 2021-2022 cohort. During that year of mentorship I had the pleasure of working with a licensed mental health professional who played a monumental role in defining the limitless possibilities I could explore upon entering into my professional career. Fast forward a few years I would have never imagined life would bring me to the position to mentor TWO undergraduate students in the same mentoring program that brought me so much light. I have to say, it is incredibly difficult to constantly be reminded that the mental health field drastically lacks representation when our community maintains so much need. But I truly believe the only way to change that is by supporting the next generation of practitioners who will tip the scale. Black Mental Wellness showed me there is no scale but instead only room for continuous advancement and nourishment to our communities.
