Niara J. Carrenard (she/her) is a first-generation Haitian-American, born and raised in Brooklyn, NY. Her research interests examine the impact of racial and intergenerational trauma in Black and Haitian-American adults as well as Black individuals perceived barriers and facilitators to mental health care and their experiences in therapy. Niara aims to use her research findings to develop culturally responsive therapeutic interventions, reduce the stigma of mental health and improve overall mental health outcomes within Black communities.
Fun Fact: Niara is a Mixed Martial Arts fighter and a podcaster (Growing Gardenias Podcast)
